The Project’s Goal
Greek America by the Numbers is a quantitative demographic research project documenting population trends and socioeconomic characteristics among individuals reporting Greek ancestry in the United States. Drawing primarily on U.S. Census Bureau data, the American Community Survey (ACS), and related demographic datasets, the project provides systematic, descriptive analysis of geographic distribution, education, income, language use, and neighborhood change.
The project was developed in response to the limited availability of accessible, up-to-date demographic information on the Greek-American population in the United States. Although Greek Americans represent a long-established and geographically dispersed population, systematic quantitative analyses of their population distribution and socioeconomic patterns are often scattered across sources or difficult to locate.
Greek America by the Numbers addresses this gap by presenting empirical, data-based analyses in a single, publicly accessible platform. The site emphasizes descriptive demographic analysis rather than advocacy or policy prescription.
The project is ongoing. Contributions are welcome from researchers and analysts interested in producing quantitative analyses of Greek Americans using census and survey data. Submissions that document population, geographic, and socioeconomic patterns are especially encouraged.
